Taxes higher, but roads not maintained

Friday, April 19, 2013

To the editor:

I received my property tax statement in the mail last week and I couldn't help but notice how much my taxes went up.

Don't get me wrong -- I have no problem paying my taxes. But when it comes to the streets in my neighborhood, then I have a problem.

You see, there are potholes in my street on Parkway that haven't been taken care of in years. Now I ask you, do you think it is right to raise taxes on myself and other citizens and not fix the streets in need of repair?

I'm not blaming the current administration, because this has gone on for many years. I drive around town and see some areas repaired, but I would like something done to my street as well.

As a citizen, I'm asking for this matter to be resolved as soon as possible.
