R.L. McDowell

Mr. R.L. McDowell, 89, of Manila, passed from this life Saturday, March 30, 2013, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born near Amarillo, Texas, he was the son of the late Brad and Eula Mae McDowell and had lived most of his life in the Manila area. He was a farmer for many years and later retired from the former Bush Canning Company in Blytheville. He was of the Church of God faith.

Mr. McDowell was preceded in death by his wife, Jerline Whitehead McDowell in 2009.

Survivors include one son, Darrell McDowell of Manila; four daughters,

Phyllis Williams of Pennsylvania, Paula McDowell and Tina Willyerd, both of Manila, and Lisa McCallie of Pennsylvania; four sisters, Betty McDowell of Houston, Texas, Bonnie Warnick of Walnut Ridge, Brenda Haney and Ada Meeks, both of Black Rock. Mr. McDowell also leaves 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Linda Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
