Neva Marie Bates

Neva Marie Bates, age 83, of Leachville, widow of Mr. Herman Bates, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Monette Manor Nursing Center in Monette. Born in Cave City, Arkansas she was the daughter of the late Basil and Audie McCloud Blevins and had been a longtime Leachville resident. She retired from the Leachville School Cafeteria after 29 years of service and was a member of the Leachville First Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by 1 brother, Donald Blevins and 2 sisters, Flora Mae Ring and Ora Lue Hunter. She is survived by:

a son, Jerry Bates of Leachville

three daughters, Phyllis Miller of Leachville, Verna Shrable of Little Rock, Veda Shrable of Manila; two brothers, Mack Blevins of Asawatame, KS, and

Bill Blevins of Leachville; two sisters, Eletta Jones of Lewisburg, KS, and Betty Baldridge of Monette. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday March 16, 2013, in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. David Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Keith Shrable, Ryan Shrable, Chris Haynes, Chris Applegate, Sammy Stone and Tony Hister. Online guest register at www.howardfuneralservice.com
