Mrs. Betty Dapthlene Riggs, 71, of Manila, the widow of Mr. Ronald Wayne Riggs, died Friday, March 8, 2013, at her home. Born in Biggers, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Eleanora Brantley Daniel and was a longtime Manila resident.

She was a 1959 graduate of Central High School in St. Louis and was a retired switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Mrs. Riggs had been a member of Community Methodist Church near Manila for 53 years.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Rodney Riggs; and three sisters, Freda Daniel Miller, Ouida Daniel Kinsey and Carolyn Sue Daniel Roll.

She is survived by her son, Alan Riggs of Manila;

Two brothers, Bill Daniel of Pocahontas and Edward Daniel of Reno;

One sister, Lois Daniel Blake of Hughes;

Two granddaughters, Angel Hembrey and Kelly Stuart; and

Two great-grandsons, Michael and Gaige Edwards.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with the Rev. Jerry Pentecost officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery.
