Wayne Taylor, 85, of West Memphis died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Crittenden Regional Hospital in West Memphis.

Born in Ripley, Tenn., to John Wesley Taylor and Magdalene Matthews Taylor, he was a retired farmer and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Japan.

He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Marion and a former member of First Baptist Church in Hughes, Ark., and Clear Lake Baptist Church in Blytheville. Mr. Taylor was a graduate of Burdette High School, a Deacon, a Gideon, and he loved to fish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Haynes Taylor and two brothers, Howard Taylor and Charles Taylor.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Geneva Taylor; son, John Allen Taylor and his wife, Tammy, of Hughes;

Two daughters, Sandra Duckworth of West Memphis, and Mona Sue Taylor and her husband, David, of Marion;

Three brothers, Tom Taylor of San Antonio, Texas, Bill Taylor of Muscle Shoals,

Ala., and John .R. Taylor of Blytheville;

Two sisters, Martha Gothard of Armorel, and Mary Kelly of West Memphis;

Five grandchildren, Shawn Jamieson, Cara Holleman, Emily

Stewart, Matt Taylor, and Ashton Taylor; and three great-grandchildren, Aidan Holleman, Wesley Holleman, and Brooklyn Stewart.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at 10 a.m. in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Wesley Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. Online register may be signed at cobbfuneralhome.com.
