Not enough thought put into skateboard park plan

Thursday, November 22, 2012

To the editor:

Why would you want to build a skateboard park in Walker Park? I am a longtime Blythevillian and I have lived by Walker Park my entire life. I don't think there was much thought put into this one.

How about some basketball courts or something more suited to fit the people who reside around the area? I don't think there's a kid on my block or around my area who can even afford a skateboard. Thing is, they don't skate.

Why not build it out at the Sportsplex? Do something in Walker Park that the people who live around there can enjoy. Let's face it -- people who use that park are the people who live around it. Crime is to bad in the area for tourists and I seriously doubt a skateboard park would encourage the people who lock their doors and speed up when they come down my block to stop and let their kids get out and play.
