Letter to the Editor

If you can't find something to do, you aren't looking

To the editor:

I continue to hear how Blytheville "ain't got nothing to do." Well, you know that just ain't so!

We have many programs at the Ritz Theater, good shows and the theater is very seldom half-full. We have Springtime on the Mall, the Chili Cookoff. The town merchants are doing their best to make Halloween a special time for the children -- so are several churches.

That Bookstore in Blytheville offers new and old authors and a chance to meet them at book signings. Get involved in civic clubs. Charlie DeGeso has been offering, about every other week, Gospel music out at Westminster church. We have attended "Women of Faith" and our own talented Charles Moody and they were terrific. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. One hour. Lots of toe-tapping and hand-clapping to great gospel music.

That was last week. Since that time, the Presbyterian Church offered a musical Sunday afternoon concert, and so has ANC. Recently, there have been fundraisers for the Haven and the Humane Society of Blytheville, and the list goes on and on.

So many opportunities to be a part of what is going. If you can't find anything to do in our city, you ain't looking! If all else fails, go to church -- our church is one of the best kept secrets in town, The First Christian Church. Try it -- you won't just like it, you will love it. We have men and women fellowship, monthly dinners and all kinds of fellowship for the kiddies. You will not only be blessed, it will give you something to do.
