Memorial services for Tommy Joe Shelton will be held Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator with the Rev. Dr. Helen Tester officiating. Interment will be in the church columbarium with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shelton, 65, of Meridian, Miss., died Thursday Oct. 18, 2012, at Anderson Regional Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 19, 1946, in Blytheville. Mr. Shelton graduated from Blytheville High School in 1965 and Arkansas State University in 1969. He moved to Meridian in 1992 to work at NAS Meridian. He was a talented commercial artist and retired from NAS Meridian with 40 years of service. He also was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Shelton was very active in the MS Special Olympics and also worked with The Parents Circle Support Group and designed their logo. He donated his artwork talents to many local organizations. Mr. Shelton was an active member of The Church of The Mediator and was active in the men's group at the church. He received many awards for his design and artwork.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Sharon Boren Shelton of Meridian;

A special son, Zachary Thomas Shelton of Meridian; A brother, Danny Shelton of Canyon Lake, Calif.;

His nephews, Yancey Shelton of Canyon Lake, Calif., Scott Shelton of Napa, Calif., James W. Boren III, of Phoenix, Ariz.;

Nieces, Amber Smith of Dell, Rosanne Johnson of Greenville, Miss., Candace Boren of San Clemente, Calif., Amanda Nierad of Scottsdale, Ariz.;

Brothers-in-law, Philip Koonce of Blytheville and James W. Boren Jr. of Scottsdale, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Shelton; and

A daughter, Jennifer Jo Shelton.

Visitation will be held Monday 5-7 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
