Wilma Jeanette Short

Mrs. Wilma Jeanette Short, 68, of Bassett, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at her home. Born Aug. 3, 1944, in Golden Lake to the late Ben and Iva Dobson Derrick, she was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her husband, David Short; two sisters, Minnie Stout and Arlene Cissell; and one brother, Bruce Derrick.

Mrs. Short leaves one daughter, Dianna and Steve Welch of Basset;

Three sisters, Jean Jenkins of Earle, Jodene Larue of Bismark and Jenny Mayott of Cabot;

One brother, Glenn Derrick of Cabot;

Three grandchildren, Lucas Welch of Bassett, Larry Welch of New Orleans, La. and Landon Welch of Oak Harbor, Wash.; and

Five great-grandchildren, Parker Welch, Tristan Adams, David Lane Welch, Collin Welch and Chloe Welch.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at 201 Blackwell St. in Bassett with Danny Helms officiating. Arrangements are being made by Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola.
