Neoma E. Cotton, 93, of Steele, formerly of Gosnell, passed from this life Friday, June 22, 2012, at River Oaks Care Center.

Born in Colbert County, Ala., to William Alfred and Margaret "Goldie" Nesmith Johnson, she attended Yarbro Baptist Church and was a retired cafeteria employee with the Gosnell Schools.

Neoma was an expert seamstress and cook and loved canning vegetables from her garden and sharing with her friends and family.

She loved to write quotes, sayings and remembrances of the important things in life, yet more importantly, it was a reflection of her life. She was very proud of her 40-plus years of serving Christ.

She was a supporter of Billy Graham and loved to watch him when she could.

She was an individual who looked to her faith in God to sustain all her needs. She loved her life and lived it to the fullest. Her devotion to family, especially her children, was inexhaustible and her love was immeasurable.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harvey Cotton; her son, Marshall David Cotton; four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her children, Frances Ferrell and husband Charles, of Steele, Charlotte Davis and husband, Bill of Searcy, Linda Lilly and husband, Ken of Starkville, Miss., Larry Cotton and wife, Joyce of Blytheville, Rheta Cotton of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Regina Crosby and husband, Bruce of Houston;

Five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and Misty Warren and Holly Davidson, two special and devoted caregivers who became her extended family.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Funderburk officiating.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. until time for services. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery.
