Mr. Robert Irving Linstrom passed away peacefully and was received in heaven Sunday, May 27, 2012, at the age of 86. Mr. Linstrom was born June 20, 1925 in Omaha, Neb. He served in 6th Marine Division, Company C during World War II and fought in the battle of Okinawa and in Guadalcanal.

After the war he finished his degree at Omaha U, converted to the Catholic faith of his lifelong love, Louise Ann Kravchuk, and was married in 1949. He dedicated himself to the Catholic Church, his wife, and his eight children, and worked for GMAC for 32 years.

Bob was an active volunteer wherever needed, including nearly three decades volunteering for the Martha O'Bryan Center's Meals on Wheels program. Those blessed to know Robert, knew him as a loving husband, a caring father, and a fair boss. He was a moral man of true character and integrity, never blurring the line between right and wrong. He fought fervently for the causes he knew to be honorable and served as an exemplary model of how to live life. He loved the simple things, humor, learning, and was an extremely well read man.

Mr. Linstrom is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, his eight children and 22 grandchildren. A rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, followed by a memorial Mass at 6 p.m. at Saint Patrick Catholic Church located at 1219 Second Avenue South Nashville, Tenn.
