Atrell B. Thornell Turner, 86, of Lake City passed away Monday May 21, 2012, at Lakeside Nursing Center. Atrell B. Thornell Turner was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Eros, La., to the late Thomas and Clemmie Roberts Thornell. She was a homemaker most of her life, beside a few years when she worked in manufacturing. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, and canning. She loved to have the family over at her home so she could cook for them every chance she could. She loved to go to the Lake City Senior Center to visit with all her friends until her health started failing her. She was a member of the Community of Christ in Caraway, where she served as a Deacon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie J Turner; one son, Ross Calvin Turner; four sisters, Irene Costin, Birdie Lamb, Myrtle Truezichaler, and Virginia Scott; four brothers, Vincent, Richard, Thomas, and Gene Thornell.

Survivors include her three sons, Jimmie Turner of Lake City, Larry Turner and his wife Eileen of Lanham, Md.; Dennis Turner and his wife Patricia of Kingston Springs, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Holcomb of Pontotoc, Miss., and Joyce Thornell of Black Oak; three grandchildren, Julie Nichols, Mark Turner, and Alexander Turner; great-grandchildren, Jose Sousa, Cameron Nichols; stepgrandchildren, David Watson, Jennifer Decker, Danny Leach, Greg Leach, and Emily Leach; a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Funeral service were 2 p.m. Saturday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Elder Gary Earnhart officiating. Burial followed in Monette Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Friday evening from 6-8 at Emerson Funeral Home.
