Vista Finley

Mrs. Vista Finley passed away Thursday May 10, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born Sept. 12, 1919 in Evening Shade, Ark., the daughter of the late Dotson and Anna Metcalf. She was a member of the Black Oak Church of Christ. Mrs. Finley spent time working on the family farm, once owned and operated the Tea Shoppe Cafe in Black Oak, and was employed over 25 years at American Greetings Corp. She also delivered meals for several years for the St. Bernard's Senior Life Center to those who were homebound. She would gladly run errands for anyone in the event her help was needed. For her willingness to give her time and help to others, she was voted an "Angels of Christmas" by the Monette Senior Citizens Group. Mrs. Finley also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, dominos, bingo and loved all types of music. Many will recall her beautiful singing voice. She had a smile and kind words for everyone. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

Mrs. Finley was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Finley; a son, Leyon Finley, and her sons-in-law, Jim Dunigan and Elbert Qualls.

She is survived by her daughters, Gail Mangrum and husband Keith and Anyllue Dunigan Qualls, both of Monette; sons, Steve Finley of Jonesboro, Ted Finley and wife Raye of Monette, and Bob Finley and wife Amy of Cherokee Village; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Finley was the surviving child in her family of 10 children and had numerous nieces and nephews along with many friends and neighbors.

A celebration of her life was held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 14, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette, with Jerry "Chubs" Qualls and Eddie Dunigan officiating. Interment was 4:30 p.m. at Maxville Cemetery near Cave City.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Scott Laffoon, Steve Haigwood, Aaron Uthoff, Keith Mangrum, Dickie Pace and Jessie Dewitt. Honorary pallbearers were Monette Senior Citizens Group.

The family requests lasting memorial be sent to The Children's Homes of Paragould or the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
