Mrs. Joyce Bernice Vest, 71, of Blytheville, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. She was born in Hardy, the daughter of Walter David and Goldie Irene Alls.

Bernice worked at First National Bank in Blytheville for thirteen years before graduating from nursing school. She then worked as an R.N. at Baptist Hospital in Blytheville until her retirement.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Paragould.

Her hobbies included painting -- she was a very talented artist; gardening -- she loved working with her flowers; and cooking.

Her family said that she would always cook the favorite food of the person for whom she was cooking. Her daughter says that she always took care of them. Her husband said that, "She was a great lady!"

She and her husband always took their family with them on vacations. They made many trips to Disney World, visited Florida beaches, and enjoyed shows in Branson. She was all about family. Bernice put everybody before herself.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jarrel (Jerry) Vest of Blytheville;

One daughter, Kathy Campbell (and Steve) of Olive Branch, Miss.;

One sister, Shirley Ann Myrick (and Robert) of Paragould;

Two grandchildren, William Thompson (and Tiffany) of Blytheville and Kristy Wallace (and Chris) of Southaven, Miss.; and

One great-grandson, Josiah Wallace of Southaven.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Carney Funeral Home in Blytheville, with the Rev. Chris Wallace officiating. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould. Condolences may be sent to www.carneyfuneralhome.com
