James L. 'Jim' Branscum

Mr. James L. "Jim" Branscum, 81, of North Little Rock, formerly of Blytheville, passed from this life Friday, March 30, 2012, at John H. McClellan VA Hospital in Little Rock.

Born in Blytheville to Shelton Lloyd and Vivian Fields Branscum, he was retired owner of Branscum Moving and Storage. Jimmy proudly served in the United States Navy, was a member of the Lion's Club, was a Mason and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Branscum and Richard Branscum, and sisters, Shirley Moody and Betty Williams.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Edna Peeples Branscum of the home;

Two daughters, Lou Abbott of Little Rock and Rita Wooten and husband, Michael, of Knoxville, Tenn.;

grandchildren, Elizabeth Abbott Poynter and husband, Scott, of Little Rock, Catherine, Sarah and Baker Wooten, all of Knoxville;

A great-granddaughter, Emory Grace Poynter of Little Rock;

His brother and best friend, Charlie Branscum of Blytheville; and

Three sisters, Linda Harvison of Blytheville, and Kay Kraha and Ruby Taylor, both of Clarksville, Tenn.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Blytheville with the Rev. Greg Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cobb Funeral Home. An online register may be signed at cobbfuneralhome.com
