Arthur Ray Smith, 78, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was born January 27, 1934, in Lead Hill to late W.A. and Frankie Smith.

Ray retired after 47 years with Colson Castors as a quality control inspector. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He loved to dance, fish and tell stories. He was "Uncle Ray" to everyone who knew him and will be remembered for his kindness.

He is survived by a brother, Allen Smith; special nephew, Michael Smith both of Monette and several other nieces and nephews.

Ray is also preceded in death by three brothers, J.W. Smith, Troy Smith and Jim Smith; four sisters, Avo Kimmer, Margaret Prince, Edna Holland and Virginia Kirkpatrick.

A graveside service was held Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Monette Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Reed and Rev. Ed Wheeler officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are his nieces and nephews and as honorary pallbearers former co-workers of Colson Caster Corp. in Jonesboro.
