Dorothy Estelle Jones Francis

Mrs. Dorothy Estelle Jones Francis, longtime resident of Blytheville and Sherwood, died Sunday, March 18, 2012, in Rogers. She was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Hill Creek, Conway County, Arkansas, the daughter of David Gillard and Winnie Pearl Hawkins Jones. She was a pharmacy clerk for Plaza Drugs in Blytheville, Harvest Foods and later Kroger in Sherwood, retiring in July 2011.

She married Emery Louis Francis Sr. June 4, 1943 in Blythevilles. Emery Sr. died Aug 18, 1989. Dorothy was a faithful member of North Hills Baptist Church in Sherwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers Druid G. Jones (Polly and Marvelle), Hoyt G. Jones; her sisters Zenoma Aulene Martin (and Irvin), Edith Christine Perry (and Herman), Ruby Pearl Mallett (and Thurman), Beatrice Laverne Dunlap (and Wesley); and a granddaughter, Jennifer Webb.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Emery L. Francis Jr. (and Linda) of Sherwood, Stephen Gil Francis (and Sandra) of Jackson, Mo., Susan Mary Oldham (and Richard) of Blytheville, and Lisa Elizabeth Colclasure (and Shawn) of Rogers;

A brother Leon Jones (and Delores) of Blytheville;

Two sisters Marguerite Long (and J.D.) of Columbus, Miss., Martha Black (and Bill) of Hot Springs; and

Eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at North Hills Baptist Church in Sherwood with Bro. Jim Ward officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Conway County at 2:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at North Hills Baptist Church.
