Justice not being served in murder case

Thursday, March 1, 2012

To the editor:

This is reference to the first murder in the city this past week.

Why was it deemed an act of self-defense? Arkansas has no law on the books that says that you can wait in your house for someone to get into your house then kill them when you didn't try to leave your house when you were threatened, didn't try to call police to let them know your house was being broken into by someone that had threatened you with a gun upon his return to your house.

And why was the person that committed the act of self-defense not listed in the paper by his name, as was the victim's name?

We don't live in Texas or Oklahoma and have the laws in place to just sit in your living room and wait for someone to enter your house. Blytheville citizens need to come together and insist that people get properly charged for crimes they commit. And this is a blatant miscarriage of justice.

If your brother, mother, sister or father was dead, would you allow it to be covered up like that?
