Letter to the Editor

In defense of Barry Harrison

To the editor:

I have heard in the past, all these letters written about former mayor Barry Harrison. I want to tell you my opinion of him.

In my view he is a good Christian man, had a wonderful father (who is deceased) and mother (which is still living here in Blytheville), has a lovely wife and children. In my time knowing Mr. Harrison, he has been a wonderful asset to the community, always willing to help when and where he is needed.

I am very appalled by the accusations I have been reading in the Courier News' "Letters to the Editor." I feel that it is my place as a citizen to give my opinion of Mr. Harrison. I don't think the accusations are true. We always try to see the bad in a person, but I have always learned to see the good in all people. In my view, Mr. Harrison has been nothing but an upstanding in this community, a great mayor, in right standing with God and a good role model for anyone to follow. This is my view of him and I am standing by it.

I leave with you, my fellow citizens of Blytheville, let us not always find the bad or negative in our fellow man. We all have fault, and if we were uncovered, we would be amazed at the outcome of our secret. Let us pray for our former mayor and our current mayor as this job great responsibility that goes along with it. If there was wrong done let us not be the judge, just pray about it instead of talking about it. God bless all who read this, and may he bring understanding to us all. Remember, we are not the judge. We are all innocent until proven guilty. Praise the Lord.
