Jessie (J.R.) Meherg

Mr. Jessie (J.R.) Meherg, 62, of Harrisburg, died from a brain tumor Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, in his home. Born Dec. 25, 1949, in Garden Point, he was an owner and salesman of copy machines, a member of Harrisburg Church of God, and an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from Keiser High School, and was a former carrier for the Jonesboro Sun and owner of Advantage Business Systems.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Huston and Rosey Meherg.

Mr. Meherg leaves eight sisters, Helen Whitaker, Bobbye (an Larry) Rush, Pat (an Bud) Keel and Linda (and Jimmy) Humphrey of Oxford, Ora Hussey of Keiser, Peggy Sue Beard of Dyess, Shirley (and Glenn) Day of Bonaire, and Deborah (and Larry) Lambert of Hernando; and

Three brothers, Huey (and Diane) Meherg of Etowah, Jim (and Linda) Meherg of Golconda, and Rodney Meherg of Springfield.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Raymond Britt and Bro. Gregg Hoskins, will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will follow at Mississippi County Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
