Mr. Marshall O'Neal Guyton Jr., 63, of 3015 W. Willow Knolls Rd., Peoria, Ill., passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, surrounded by his family, at OSF Medical Center in Peoria.

Marshall was born April 28, 1948, in Blytheville, to Fannie Mae and Marshall Neal Guyton Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Octavia McGhee, Florine Johnson and Earnestine Stewart; and two brothers Vancel and John A. Guyton.

He served in the United States Army as an Engineer in the 54th Engineer Battalion in Wilkfllecken, Germany, as a Specialist 4, from 1967 to 1969. Marshall worked for Caterpillar Construction Equipment as a Plant Assembler from February, 1970, to October, 2003, retiring after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Local UAW 974 Union, a member of the Peoria Branch NAACP where he volunteered in the Voter Registration Drives.

Marshall was a faithful member of St. Paul Baptist Church where he served as an Usher and Lead Servant for the Youth Ushers. He was also a loyal member of the United Usher Board Association and Youth Counsel Leader for the National Baptist Convention.

Marshall leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife, Evelyn (Price) Guyton, of Peoria;

Three sons, Roderick Guyton, Phillip Price and Mark Price of Peoria;

Four daughters, Yolanda (and Carlton) Jackson, Tiffany (and Don) Caldwell and Teerea Carpenter, all of Peoria, and Margo Guyton of Arlington, Texas;

Five brothers, Pastor Arthur(and Lena) Guyton Sr., Johnny (and Lois) Guyton, Willie (and Willie B.) Guyton, Jessie "Dave" (and Emma) Guyton and Thurman Guyton;

Seven sisters, Pauline Dotson, Verline Johnson, Deloris (and Charles) Sanders, Mary Logan, Nellie Wilkerson, Bobbie (and Eddie) Posey and Theodosia Guyton; and

Fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at his church at 10 a.m. Saturday with a visitation one hour prior to the service at 9 a.m. Pastor Herschel Hannah will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell County Military Rites Team.

Family and friends will be received at 704 W. Meadows Place and 608 W. Westwood Dr. in Peoria. Simons Mortuary in Peoria has been entrusted with arrangements.
