Letter to the Editor

Tax vote is ridiculous

Friday, December 30, 2011

First of all, I want to say that I agree with Robert Christian's letter to the editor. To even consider making the tax-payers pay the city's debt is just ridiculous! Taxpayers should not have to bail out the city of Blytheville.

The city would not be owing the IRS if the people that were elected to office held up to responsibility ... we already pay too many taxes. With today's higher cost of living, I think its sorry for the city council to even consider making us pay ... WE didn't take the city's money ...

Why would the taxpayers be willing to pay taxes TWICE? We already paid for it once. When famous people don't pay taxes, the IRS sells their possessions to help with the bill. The people in charge at that time should be held responsible. Money just don't disappear from the city's finances..

Another thing that keeps showing up on the ballot is the vote to approve building a new school gym; where would that money come from if it ever passed? Please someone, give the voters/taxpayers information about taxes we are currently paying & break it down for us..

Example: What percent goes towards what? This percent goes where?

PS: Whatever happened to the County tax for the hospital?
