Arlie Frances Lucas, 94, widow of Mr. Vernon Lucas, of Jonesboro, formerly of Leachville and St. Louis, Mo., died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at the Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro. Born at Bakersfield, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Rhoda Virginia Troutt Shanks and had been a longtime Leachville area resident before making her home in St. Louis, Mo., in the mid-1950s, then returning to Northeast Arkansas nearly 30 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Caramel United Methodist Church in Jonesboro.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Aubrey Shanks, and three sisters, Iola Hicks, Birdie Jahann and Florence Jones.

Survivors include her daughter, Norma Bibb and her husband Sammy of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Susan Mote and Sharon Radcliff and her husband, Eddie, all of Jonesboro; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Mote, Tanner Mote, Samantha Radcliff and Barrett Radcliff. She also leaves a sister, Wanda Yaggi of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Edward Pruett officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery. The family received visitors Sunday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Serving as active pallbearers were Larry Bibb, Don Bibb, Carey Stone, Frank Mote, David Yaggi and Greg Scott.
