Mr. James Harold Hitchcock, 70, of Manila, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at his residence. He was born May 21, 1941, in Lambert to the late James Chester Hitchcock and was raised in the Manila and Osceola areas. He had been a longtime resident of Florida before making his home in Manila 13 years ago. He was a retired farmer and a Baptist.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two infant sons, James Hitchcock Jr. and James David Hitchcock; and a grandson, John McVay.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Hattie Barlow Hitchcock of the home;

Three daughters, Deborah Hitchcock of Anderson, and Judy Stevens and Ruby Schrader, both of Manila;

His mother, Mrs. Bertha Lorine Galloway of Manila;

One brother, James Ernest Hitchcock of Florida;

Four sisters, Betty Augustine Vandiver and Wanda Green of Manila, Martha Galloway of Leachville, and Brenda Yates of Dayton; and

Eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Howard Funeral Service in Manila. Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Raymond Britt and the Rev. Gary Galloway, will be held at the Funeral Service Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery.
