Lanny R. Fowler

Saturday, September 17, 2011

Mr. Lanny R. Fowler, 75, of Blytheville, passed from this life on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice Center in Jonesboro.

Born to Clyde and Vedace Hall Fowler in Blytheville, he was a lifelong resident and member of Trinity Baptist Church. Lanny was the owner/operator of Fowler Heating and Air and a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Lanny was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and The Fleet Reserves.

Although Lanny was dedicated to his work, he always made time to listen or watch sports. He loved all sports, but especially when the Arkansas Razorbacks were playing or the St. Louis Cardinals. Lanny fought his illness with a determined courage and strength. His ability to keep going when he didn't feel like it was a true inspiration. Lanny and his wife Billie were married for 53 years and were proud of the family they raised. But he really would swell up with pride when his grandchildren "the love of his life" came around looking for "Bubble Gum Man." Not only grandchildren, but many others also were recipients of "bubble gum."

Lanny's parents; son, Randy Fowler, and brothers, Clyde and Donald Fowler, all preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Carolyn Adams Fowler of the home;

His children, Michael Lynn Fowler of Blytheville, Timothy B. and Leigh Fowler of Jonesboro; and

His grandchildren, Blake Fowler and Catherine Fowler.

A memorial celebration of Lanny's life will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Revs. Mike Welch and Jeff Watson officiating. There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society, Trinity Baptist Church or the charity of choice. Condolences can be sent to cobbfuneralhome@sbcglobal.net
