James "Jim" York

James "Jim" London York entered this world May 5, 1940, and went home with our Lord Aug. 27, 2011. Jim was retired with John Deere Company, where he knew most everyone in farming around the Buffalo Island area over the span of the forty years that he worked there. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Monette. He was always serving his family in Christ and many others in the community.

He leaves behind one son and three daughters, Kaylon (Amy) Grubbs, Lisa (Jamie) Ballard, Jama (Charis) Michaelides, and Dana (Brandon) McKuin; six grandchildren, Jacob and Jared Grubbs, Mallory and Madelena Ballard, Taylor and Rachel McKuin; his dear companion, Sarah Carter; three brothers and one sister.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Barbara York, his parents, James F. and Trudy York, and one brother, Gerald York.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Monette First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jerry Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Monette Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Monette First United Methodist Church.

Honored to serve as active pallbearers are Tom Carroll, Jamie Ballard, Charis Michaelides, Brandon McKuin and Kaylon Grubbs, and as honorary pallbearers, Michael York, Barry York, Perry York, Mickey Boland and the Pizza Crew of the First United Methodist Church.

The family requests that those wishing to leave lasting memorials consider the Monette First United Methodist Church.
