Leonders Patterson

The Rev. Leonders Patterson, 88, of Indianapolis, Ind., and a former resident of the Blytheville area, passed from this life Friday, Aug. 19, 2011 at the Rose Gate Village Nursing Center in Indianapolis.

Rev. Patterson was born Aug. 25, 1922, to Jasper Newton and Beauton Simpson Patterson in the Huffman Community. In 1949 at Willow Springs, Mo., he began his ministry in the Church of God which lasted for many years before "retiring." He was also retired as an employee of the Randall Company in Blytheville. Rev. Patterson was a member of the Pathway Church of God and a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served his country with honor in the WWII era.

He was preceded in death by his wives, June Patterson Carson, Frances Qualls Patterson and Penetha Stevens Patterson; a daughter, Della J. Gregory; and a grandson, Jeffrey Brian Patterson.

He leaves his son, Virgil L. Patterson of Greenwood, Ind.;

A brother, Leonard H. Patterson of Vilonia;

A sister, Catherine E. Odle of Risco, Mo.; and

Five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. L. V. Rigney and the Rev. Danny Rigney officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be emailed to cobbfuneralhome@sbcglobal.net
