Charlyn McLeod Day

Mrs. Charlyn McLeod Day, 90, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011, following a brief illness. Formerly of Edgewater, Md., and a longtime resident of Annandale, Va., Mrs. Day was born and raised in Blytheville. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald H. Day; her sister Carolyn Jane McLeod Henley; and her parents Vera Harrington and George McLeod.

An adventurous and enterprising woman, she solo piloted an airplane at age 16. She became a successful business owner of two fine gifts and china shops and retired at the age of 75.

She leaves four children, Carolyn D. O'Leary and her husband, Robert, Donald H. Day Jr., and his wife, Mary Kay, Celia D. Miltz and her husband, Donald, and Douglas M. Day and his wife, Karen;

Eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren;

Her brother-in-law William Earl Day; and

Two nieces and two nephews.

She will be interred beside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery later this summer.
