Bettye Wallace

Bettye Wallace, age 80 of Manila, widow of Wayne Wallace, died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Manila Nursing Center. Born at Manila she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Mae Allen Parker and had been a lifelong Manila resident. Well known throughout the community, she had worked at Chestnut's Grocery before purchasing the store. Later she sold the store but continued to work there for several years. She was retired from the Manila School System where she worked in the cafeteria. Bettye was an accomplished seamstress and beauty operator, and enjoyed traveling, having been to France, Switzerland and other foreign countries.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Sam Parker.

She is survived by two Sons, Logan Wallace and Scott Wallace both of Manila; a Daughter, Melanie Fields of Jones, Okla. She also leaves nine grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Manila Cemetery with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.
