California -- Gaylon C. Castleman passed to his eternal life on April 28, 2011. He was born in Manila in 1936.

Gaylon was preceded in death by his parents Inez and Elmer, and his brothers, Laudell, Ell, Clell, Carl, James Elmer Jr., and Billy Jean.

He is survived by his wife, Bettie; his children Glenn (Marlee) and Pam (Doug); and his grandchildren, Bobby, Matthew, and Aaron, and many nieces and nephews.

In 1955, Gaylon moved to California with Bettie. They raised their two children while Gaylon worked as a retail clerk in Southern California. In 1975, the family moved to San Jose where he worked with his brother Carl as a carpenter for 15 years. Another move took Gaylon and Bettie to Las Vegas where he again worked as a retail clerk. He retired in 2000 and he and Bettie moved back to Southern California.

During his life, Gaylon drove the cotton picker; enjoyed playing canasta with family and friends; ran the race track on his go-cart; fished up and down the Sacramento Delta with his brother Carl; watched many Lakers basketball games; helped many of his neighbors in his mobile home park; worked in his vegetable garden; and cared for the love of his life, Bettie.

Gaylon was a quiet man who was loved by many.

Donations in Gaylon's memory can be sent to the American Heart Association.
