Essie Bernice Jones

Essie Bernice Jones, 71, of Osceola, died of heart failure Sunday, April 3, 2011, at SMC Regional Medical Center in Osceola. Born Aug. 12, 1939, in Mississippi, she was a retired factory worker.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Leggs of Allen Park; her step-father, Lovely Leggs; and her brother James Leggs.

Ms. Jones leaves her daughter, Marilyn Bowen of Osceola;

One son, Larry Childress of Atlanta;

Three sisters, Sandra K. Clark , Loveria Leggs and Bettie (and Wesley) Warrior, all of Detroit;

Two brothers, Charles (and Eliza) Leggs and Willie (and Gail) Leggs of Detroit; and

Eleven grandchildren.

Memorial services, officiated by Dr. Moses Black, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Osceola.
