Edna May Aycock Walker

Mrs. Edna May Aycock Walker, 100, of Gosnell, passed from this life Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Heritage Square Nursing Center. Born to Benjamin and Agnes Martin Aycock in Calhoun County, Miss., she had been an area resident most of her life and was an active charter member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Gosnell. Mrs. Walker's love and a devoted commitment to family was what made her so special. She would work tirelessly day after day to help provide a home. She knew the value of hard work and would never shirk from it. From working in the fields to gardening, cooking, and making a warm comfortable loving home, her daily life was always centered on her family. She loved to read the Bible daily and after she became unable to attend church she would watch Dr. Adrian Rogers on television.

Her parents; husband, I.T. Walker Sr.; and several siblings preceded her in death.

She leaves her children and spouses, I.T. and Reva Walker Jr., Charlene and Bill Harris, Mary Ellen Ray, Agnes and Audie Cavanaugh, Brenda McCanless Jolliff, all of Gosnell;

Her grandchildren, Diana Garner, Sheila Westbrook, I.T. Walker III, Heather Carmichael;

Her great-grandchildren, Trey Garner, Tiffany Garner, Dylan Carmichael, Dalton Carmichael, Katie Walker, Bailey Walker, Madison Walker;

Her great-great-grandchild, Bryston Garner; and

Sisters-in-law, Juanita Pinkston of Russellville and Thelma Fowler of Jonesboro.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Hyde officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. The family received friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund.
