Mr. Darrell Wayne Wigtion, 63, of Dell, passed from this life Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at his home. Born to E.W. and Annie Mae Dhority Wigtion in Luxora, he was a tool and die maintenance worker for Sunstrand, maker of the space shuttle. Formerly of Rockford, Ill., he was an area resident most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He grew up on a plantation doing farming which he loved, before moving to Illinois.

Prior to his disability he loved fishing, hunting, tinkering with small engines, and gardening. He had a unique ability to make things. His tool and die experience helped him to make his own cannon (it worked!). Mr. Wigtion, a graduate of Dell High School, played basketball for the Dell Blue Devils. He was a devoted father and grandpa who loved being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Emma Wigtion; and brothers, Joe Wigtion and Monroe Wigtion.

Mr. Wigtion leaves his children, Tina Powell and her husband, Ricky, of Armorel, and Jeffrey Wayne Wigtion of Paragould;

A brother, Charles Wigtion and wife, Verdia, of Rockford;

A sister, Donnie Dunkin of Blytheville;

His grandchildren, Kelsie Powell and Justin Wigtion;

A sister-in-law, Bobbie Wigtion of Newbern, Tenn.;

Step-grandchildren Keisha and Stacey Mosier of Cooter, Mo., and Jeremy and Ashley Powell of Armorel;

Fivegreat-grandchildren;

A host of nieces and nephews; and

His nephew, Travis Wigtion of Rockford, who was raised as a brother.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel, Billy Holifield officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be e-mailed to cobbfuneralhome@sbcglobal.net
