Community comes together to support Gentrys

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

To the editor:

If you missed the Cody Gentry Fundraiser last Saturday night, you missed another opportunity to see how our community comes together to support a family in need. What a wonderful event. There was everything from great entertainment, live and silent auctions to pies in the face. Boy, was that sticky ...

The people in our community are the best. This event showed the LOVE for Cody and the Gentry family, along with the LOVE the community has for the police departments and all the men and women that sacrifice for our safety.

The caring and love that was shown last Saturday reminds me more and more how fortunate we are to live in the Blytheville/Gosnell area.

Thank you "Team Cody," led by Chuck and Tina Wilder, along with Lisa Askue. Many others jumped in to make their idea happen. It took LOTS of help. You all know who you are, so thank you very much!

Don't forget there is an account set up at Farmers Bank for Cody -- it's the Cody Gentry Fund. Please help! Most importantly, please keep Cody and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Cody is making progress, but Cody and the family have a long road ahead.

The evening ended with "Team Cody" and everyone in a giant circle holding hands singing Alabama's song -- "Angels Among Us" -- not a dry eye in the house -- and believe me there were angels there Saturday night.

Again thank you to everyone that helped in any way.
