James "Jim" Taylor, age 76 of Columbia, Ill., formerely of Leachville, AR., passed from this life December 1, 2010. Born in Leachville he was the son of the late Homer and Lula McClawn Taylor and was a 1952 graduate of Leachville High School. He was a retired Riverboat Captain, working the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers for 46 years. He was a Mason and member of the Leachville First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 1 sister, Pat McClellan.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Taylor of the home; a Son, Bently Dorman; a Daughter, Lauralea Beyer; a Step-son, Bill Mulconnery of Smithton,Ill.; a Step-daughter, Shelley Harris and her husband Robert of Freeburg, Ill.; his Brother, Harold Taylor and his wife Ruth of Belton, Mo.; two Sisters, Linda Taylor of Osceola and Betty Kimmel and her husband Grover of Bella Vista, Ark.

He also leaves 7 grandchildren: Merritt, Abbie, Garrett, Kyle, Emily, Brianne and Brett along with several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services with Masonic Rites will be 1 p.m. Friday Dec. 10, 2010, in the Leachville Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service. The family will receive visitors Friday morning from 10 a.m. until 12:30 at the funeral home in Leachville. The family suggests any Memorials be made to, Canterbury Manor 718 N.
