Johnny Parrish, 61, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010 at his residence. He was born Feb. 25, 1949, in Monette to the late Wilburn and Essie Parrish. Johnny was a director for 41 years with Gregg Funeral Home and a retired LPN. He served his country proudly in the United States Army in Vietnam and then 23 years with the National Guard as a medic. He was a member of the Monette First Baptist Church, Monette American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Monette Memorial Cemetery Board.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Pemberton Parrish; three sons, David Wilbanks (Shana) of Walnut Ridge, Mark Parrish (Kay) of Monette, Mike Parrish (Sherry) of Bono; a sister, Betty Parrish Smithee (Ken) of Clarksville; a brother, Junior Parrish (Jean) of Knoxville, Ark.; six grandchildren.

A celebration of his life was held Thursday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. at the Monette First Baptist Church with Rev. Everett Isom, Rev. Terry Miller and Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Burial was in the Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Robert Chambers, Bob Hurst, Kristian Nuckles, Tom Steed, Ken Lomax and Ricky Copeland and as honorary pallbearers the past and present co-workers at Gregg Funeral Home.
