Nanetta "Pat" Hodges, 88, of Jonesboro, formerly of Leachville, widow of Jettie Douglas "J.D." Hodges, Jr., died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Martin Edward and Lela Hipp Staudemeyer and had been a longtime Leachville resident before making her home in Jonesboro several years ago.

She and her husband were both active in their community with Mr. Hodges serving as postmaster in Leachville for 32 years and Mrs. Hodges teaching swimming lessons with the Red Cross for 35 years. She was a member of St. Mark Episcopal Church in Jonesboro.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, June Ola Staudemeyer and a granddaughter, Maria Sullivan.

Survivors include two daughters, Ramona Hodges and Mickie Gott, both of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Laura Thompson and Jenny Spinks, both of Jonesboro, and John Toombs of Destin, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

A graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Leachville Cemetery with Rev. Jesse Perkins officiating. Services were under the direction of Howard Funeral Service.

The family received visitors from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Those preferring to leave a memorial instead of flowers may do so with the St. Mark Episcopal Church, 531 West College Jonesboro, 72401.

Serving as active pallbearers were John Toombs, Steve Thompson, Keith Goza, Joey Spinks and David Barnes. Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Wells, Eugene Turnbow, Van Riggs, Bud Selby and Jack Nall.
