Sylbia Allene McPherson

Sylbia Allene McPherson, 89, of Leachville, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Crockett, Ark., she was the daughter of the late J.W. and Bertha Phillips and had been a Leachville resident since her teenage years. Mrs. McPherson was an accomplished seamstress having worked for many of her friends and family over the years.

She attended the First Baptist Church in Leachville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Corwin and Ella Mae Phillips; and two brothers, Homer and James Phillips.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Roy McPherson of the home; a son, Sammy McPherson and his wife, Kathy, of Cardwell; a daughter, Francis Phillips and her husband, Danny of Gardner, Ill.; a sister, Vacle Olive and her husband, William of Leachville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and three step-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Ricky Rose officiating. Burial was in Cardwell Cemetery.
