Walter Elton Still, 83, of Manila, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at his home in Manila. Born at Caraway, he was the son of the late William and Mary Jane Bennett Still and had been a lifelong Manila area resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a lifetime member of the American Legion, retired farmer and longtime member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Manila.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Christian Still; a brother and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Still of the home; two sons, Dwight Still of Bryant and Randy Still of Paragould; a brother, Clifford Still of Bradford; a sister, Naomi Adams of Watervliet, Mich.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. Eddie Hawkins officiating. Burial followed in the Manila Cemetery. The family received visitors from noon until service time.

Active pallbearers were Matthew Still, Christopher Still, Jeremy Still, William Oglesby, Gerald Oglesby and Rick Ingram.

Honorary pallbearers were David Cooper, A.D. Berry, Wayne Ashabranner and John Ashabranner.
