Joseph Horace Musick

Joseph Horace Musick, 69, of Bardstown entered in to rest Saturday, July 18, 2009. Born Tuesday, Aug. 15, 1939, in Memphis, Tenn., to the late Horace E. Musick and Mamie Jean McGonagill Musick, he was an active third generation farmer, retired school administrator after serving 30 years in the Blytheville school system, earned a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Engineering at Arkansas State University where he was a founding member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, earned a Master's Degree in Education at the University of Arkansas. He was a past president of Mississippi County Farm Bureau, active board member for Home Oil Company and past president of Arkansas Vocational Association and participated in the Arkansas Extern program through University of Arkansas in 1976. He received the Outstanding Young Educator of Arkansas award in 1969. He received the State of Arkansas Outstanding Public Citizen award in 1978 and 1993. He was the Emergency Services Coordinator in Mississippi County for 20 years and a member of Bassett Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Musick of the home; three daughters, Catherine (Todd) Dial of Sherwood, Clarissa (Mike) McCullar of Knoxville, Tenn., and Tracey Adams of West Memphis; five grandchildren, Nicholas Dial, Whitman Dial, Lauren McCullar, Chase McCullar and Alexis Halliburton; a niece, Melodie (Matt) Zipfel of Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gene Russell Musick.

Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Roller-Swift Funeral Home. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Roller-Swift Chapel with Brother Les Clark officiating. Burial followed in Ashburn-Musick Cemetery.
