William "Bill" Fleetwood

William "Bill" Fleetwood, 81, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at his residence. He was born July 23, 1927 in Monette to the late Jess and Lew Crowell Fleetwood. Bill retired from Boilermaker, Local 27 in St. Louis. He served proudly in the United States Army Air Forces and was a member of the Monette American Legion Post 136 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Monette First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris Cornish Fleetwood of the home; a daughter, Vickey Fleetwood of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a sister, Mary Nettles Goin of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Jessica Gray of the home and Jeremiah Cater of Woodbury, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Gray, and a brother, Junior Fleetwood.

A celebration of his life was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Burial was in Monette Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.
