Vauna Clark

Vauna Gladys Fryer Clark, beloved wife, devoted mother and loving grandmother, died June 18, 2009 at the age of 91. Born in Jonesboro on Jan. 27, 1918, to her parents, late Zona Watkins and Vance Fryer, Vauna lived her entire life in the Monette area. She married Miller Clark on Jan. 19, 1939. She provided unwavering support of his farming career throughout the years, and together they raised their son Michael Wayne. After receiving her teaching degree from Arkansas State College, Mrs. Clark taught elementary school for more than 30 years in Macey and Monette. As a testament to her commitment as a teacher, she was continually approached by former students thanking her for what she did for them in and outside her classroom. She was active member of the Childress Baptist Church and Monette First Baptist Church and was an avid gardener. A loving and generous woman, she will be missed.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Miller Clark; her father, Johnny Fullen; a sister, Verlene Fullen.

Vauna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Nancy Clark ofLittle Rock; a sister, Virginia Fullen Hoggard of Hernando, Miss., her granddaughters Melissa Bacon of Little Rock and Jennifer Clark of Denver, Colorado, and three great grandchildren Miller Clark Bacon, Caroline Born and Nicholas Born.

A celebration of her life was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Rev. Ross Woodbury and Rev. William Piercy with burial in the Macey Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Wayne Hoggard, Wes Hoggard, Steve Hoggard, Sam Wamble, Robert Chambers and Larry Ladd.
