Vernon Leroy "Roy" Henry

Vernon Leroy "Roy" Henry, 89, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Monette Manor. He was born May 2, 1919, in Strawberry to the late I.P. and Cora Henry and lived in the Jonesboro area most of his life. He retired from working for Craighead County and was of the Church of Christ belief. He served in the United States Army during World War II.

Survivors include a sister, Pearl Howell, of Monette and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lewis Henry; five brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Dick Pace officiating. Burial was under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were his nephews.
