Mildred Dunigan, 82, of Black Oak died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born June 24, 1926 in Macey to the late James and Margaret Chambers. She retired from Buffalo Island Central School District, where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of the Black Oak Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Dunigan of Lake City and Eddie Dunigan of Black Oak; two brothers, Wayne Chambers and J.L. Chambers both of St. Louis; a sister, Dorothy Byrd of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Tommy Dunigan, Johnny Dunigan, Rachel Dunigan, Leah Gathright, Amanda Eakins and Samantha Dunigan; six great-grandchildren, Molly Beth Couch, Kaelie Dunigan, Riley Eakins, Madalyn Gathright, Presley Gathright and Chandler Gathright.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Noel Wesley "Buddy" Dunigan, and two brothers, Dale Chambers and Hebert Chambers.

A celebration of her life was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Black Oak Church of Christ with Tim Bassing and Eddie Dunigan officiating. Burial followed in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Tommy Dunigan, Johnny Dunigan, T.J. Eakins, Justin Gathright, Bishop Whitley, Wayne Whitley, Chub Qualls and Mike Cook. Honorary pallbearers were C.J. Taylor, John Kisner, Johnny Williams, Dr. Dennis Parten, Jim Watson, Keith Thompson, Elbert Qualls, Henry Dean Finch, Jeff Finch, Lonnie Jones, John Looney, Kenny Lomax, Dub Armstrong, Dick Pace, J.D. Coleman and Jessie Dewitt.
