Phyllis Ann Gourley Simpson

Phyllis Ann Gourley Simpson, 67, of Mountain View died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2009 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. Formerly of Caraway, she was born May 3, 1941 in Delaware. She was retired from American Greetings in Osceola and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mountain View.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert Gourley and Mae Lancaster Gourley; two sisters, June Nance and Jean Walters; and two brothers, Sam Gourley and Jack Gourley.

Survivors include her husband Jerry Simpson of the home; three daughters, Donna Henry Pate and husband Curtis of Marked Tree, Lori Ann Poag and husband John of Caraway, and Melba Lynn Stevens and husband Bub of Big Flat; three brothers, Allen Gourley and wife Mary of Jacksonville, Fla., Ronald Gourley and wife Lee of Yuma, Ariz., and Joseph Gourley Sr. and wife Marilyn of Canterbury, Del.; six grandchildren, Crystal Paxson, Clayton Stevens, Chelcie Stevens, Megan Trujillo, Eric Pate and Wesley Poag; five great-grandchildren, Christopher Thomas, Donavin Thomas, Roland Pate, Lupe Trujillo and Logan Dean Trujillo; in-laws, Deon and Ann Martin of Caraway and Veneal Gates and Karen Chandler, both of Savannah, Tenn.

Graveside funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at Caraway Cemetery with Rev. Chris Stiles officiating. A memorial service followed at Real Pointe Church, formerly the Church of God, in Lepanto. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree.
