Fishing Rodeo is Saturday

Arkansas Game and Fish dumps 300 pounds of catfish into the Walker Park pond on Friday for the Blytheville Fishing Rodeo, which will be from 7-11 a.m. Saturday. Ages 16 and under can participate in the free fishing derby. Free t-shirts will be given to the first 50 children and free sausage and biscuit to the first 100 participants. The Blytheville Area Soccer Association continues soccer sign-ups on Tuesday and next Saturday at the Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce. Gosnell accepts matching grant

The Gosnell City Council held an abbreviated meeting Tuesday evening to discuss a new $15,000 grant, as well as the ongoing bidding process on the “old sewer pond” land. “Resolution 193 is a matching grant that will allow us to upgrade our communication devices for our police and fire department,” Mayor Don Marshall said. “Darryl Grissom has collected quite a bit of money for this cause…roughly $15,000 and this grant is going to match that.”...
