Teacher reaches milestone

After 30 years of kindergarten, Gosnell Elementary teacher Debbie Finch has reached a milestone: she just finished teaching the third child of one of her former kindergarten students. This year's Relay for Life begins Friday at 6 p.m. at the Arkansas Aeroplex. Registration for survivors begins at 6 p.m. at the Survivors Tent. Entertainment by Emily Dixon, Sara Brandon and Allie and Aspen Austin will begin at 6 as well. Local man held in murder case

A Blytheville man is dead and another is in jail in lieu of $500,000 cash bond after a shooting Tuesday night on South Eighth Street. Just before 9 p.m., Blytheville police officers were sent to 1305 S. Eighth St. in reference to a man being shot. At the scene, officers found a man lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. Paramedics arrived and treated the man, later identified as Melvin Middlebrook, 40, of 437 Delta Road...
