Lloyd R. Wright
Lloyd R. Wright, of Gosnell, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro at the age of 90.
Lloyd was born to Harry and Mary Helen Lincoln Wright in York, Neb. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952 and was stationed at Blytheville Air Force Base. He retired as a Master Sergeant after serving his country for 20 years. After retirement, Lloyd continued working at Blytheville Air Force Base in the civil service division and also at McCaughey Jewelers. While stationed in Blytheville, Lloyd grew to love the city of Gosnell. He served on the Gosnell City Council for over 30 years where he played a pivotal role in the development of the Community Center. Lloyd was a God-fearing man and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Gosnell Lions Club. Family was most important to Lloyd and he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Jensen Wright; brothers, Keith, Kermit and Marvin Wright; sisters, Mary O’Brien and Bonnie Jean George.
Lloyd is survived by his children, Lloyd Wright, Jr. of Dublin, Ireland, Teresa Phillips and her husband Blake of Malvern, Carrol Jones and her husband James of Largo, Fla., Mary E. Ervin and her husband Earl of Blytheville, and Connie Wright and Toni Singletary of Belton, Texas; a brother, Lyle Wright of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Eileen Frost of Lincoln, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 29, at 2 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tandy Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cobbfuneralhome.com.
