V.R. Meatte

V.R. Meatte, 81, of Blytheville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at his home surrounded by family.

V.R. was born in the Lone Oak Community to Arlie and Edith Maxwell Meatte. He was the quality control manager at Bush Canning Company for over 35 years. After retirement, he was a driver for Mid-South Health. V.R. loved people and was very much a people person. He never met a stranger and always lent a helping hand for anyone in need. V.R. was a prankster and loved pulling jokes and pranks on everyone he knew. V.R. was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and he loved spending quality time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

V.R. is survived by his wife of 42 years, Peggy Lawrence Meatte of the home; children, Pam Hartz of Steele, Mo., Shellie Bradley and her husband David of Steele, Mo., Tony Meatte of South Bend, Ind., and Justin Meatte and his wife Madaline of Bryant; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Meatte of Senatobia, Miss.; sisters, Peggy Draper–North of Gatesville, Texas, Laverne Brinson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Betty Hart of Blytheville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Rigney officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Armorel Baptist Church, P.O.
