Josie Marie Hickerson

Josie Marie Hickerson, 81, of Leachville, passed from this life Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born and raised in Bridgeport, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Eli and Mamie Morris Wilson and had been a Leachville resident since 1985. Josie was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Leachville. She enjoyed cooking, working in her flower garden, crocheting and going to auctions and rummage sales. Her greatest enjoyment in life was babysitting her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Hubert Johnson and Eugene Hickerson; one son, Timmy Johnson; one grandson, Orlan Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Racheal Ford; five brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include one son, Brian Johnson of Ravenden; two daughters, Shirley Ford (Don) of Leachville and Carolyn Mitchell (Gary) of Mountain Home; two sisters, Mary Jane Myers of Nashville, Tenn., and Lula Belle Massey of California. She also leaves 22 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren and 52 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be a grandson and great-grandsons, Dustin Clark, Chandler Massey, Acie Massey, Timmy Ford, Dustin Beard and Calvin Beard.
